This year is Memphis’ bicentennial and Stax Museum of American Soul Music is Celebrating.  The BiSoultennial contest will pick the Top 10 Memphis soul tunes recorded between 1957 and 1975.

The Stax Museum staff compiled a Spotify playlist of 200 Memphis soul songs. They are inviting music fans from around the world to vote for their top 10 soul tunes.

Choose the top 10 Memphis soul tunes! Now we know this is a difficult assignment if you are a music lover. You will need to listen to 200 of the world’s most soulful songs ever produced.  Choosing the top 10 Memphis soul tunes will be tough given the choices and competition. Fear not fellow soul men and women because everybody wins with this fantastic list of music. It has been compiled by the Stax Museum of American Soul Music and is available on spotify.

Memphis Music Stars & Royalty!

From Stax stars Otis Redding and Sam & Dave to the Hi Records royalty Al Green and Ann Peebles, and all artists, labels, and studios in between, the list covers dozens of artists who recorded at studios throughout Memphis during that golden era of soul music between 1957 and 1975.

The Spotify list of 200 songs and ballots for voting are available on the Stax Museum’s website at https://staxmuseum.com/category/news/  You can Follow the contest on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/staxmuseum/  People may vote as often as they like between May 15 and June 30, when the voting ends.
