Memphis Artist, Jalen Harris, Takes on Broadway and Releases New Song

Singing since the age of 4, this “blue-eyed” Memphis native has begun to create a buzz for himself in the entertainment industry.

Memphis native, Jalen Harris, has created a lot of buzz for himself on the local and national stage.

If you find yourself lost in those dreamy blue eyes, you may start wondering, “Haven’t I seen this guy some where?” You have! Jalen is a former American Idol contestant.

Hold on, there’s more. He’s a published model, the understudy for Simba in The Lion King Broadway Tour, AND he just released two songs, Sigame and Fuego, for your listen pleasure. Harris is a busy entertainment industry bee.

About Jalen Harris

A graduate of Memphis Harding Academy, Jalen has always dreamed of becoming a performing artist.  As a student, he made the All West Tennessee Choir for 5 consecutive years and All West Tennessee State Men’s Chorus in 2011. Jalen was the proud recipient of the Most Promising Male Artist 2012 award from United Music Heritage, Inc. Before receiving his award, Jalen performed next to Jerry Lee Lewis and gospel singer Sherry Jones-Moffet, accompanied by the beautiful sounds of the band, “The 5.0.8”.

Jalen is also celebrated American Idol alum in Memphis. During his time on American Idol, Jalen not only made it to Hollywood and Vegas, but became a top 50 contestant, and his group, ages 15-16 were deemed the best group of Season 10.

Singing and acting aren’t the only things Jalen is known for. In 2014, that beautiful mug stomped down the runway in Memphis Fashion Week event, became a new face for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Jalen’s passion for performing led him to the theater, where he starred in several plays, musicals and two independent films. He appeared in the film Fist Fight along with acclaimed actors Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan. Jalen’s greatest performance yet, has been his role as the understudy for Simba in the Lion King Broadway Tour.
