What is Memphis Black Restaurant Week (MBRW)?
Memphis restaurants are preparing to showcase delicious cuisine for the 4th Annual Memphis Black Restaurant Week. MBRW is an opportunity for black-owned restaurants to offer dining deals, bring in new customers and allow the country to support minority-owned eateries.
This year, there are 13 participating restaurants during the week of March 3-9, 2019 — six are newcomers that have been open less than one year.
Featured restaurants include:
- Bluff City Crab
- The Office @ Uptown
- Chef Tam’s Underground Café
- Slice of Soul Pizza Lounge
- The Waffle Iron
- Trap Fusion
- Robusto by Havana Mix
- Ballhoggerz BBQ
- Phillip Ashley Chocolates & Café
- Big Momma’s & Granny’s
- Downtown Nutrition-Memphis
- A&R BBQ (East Memphis)
Memphis Black Restaurant Week is designed to promote economic diversity while celebrating some of Memphis’ best food fare.
“We are so excited about the buzz around this celebration of our city’s diversity. This is another way to show how proud we are of our city and all it has to offer while truly making a difference for these businesses,” said Cynthia Daniels, creator of Memphis Black Restaurant Week. “Over the past three years, a total of 35 restaurants were featured, bringing in a total of $575,000 in during the weekly sales and created 160 jobs,” said Daniels.
